Silver Strikers Youth have overcome Scores FC in the 2026/27 First Capital Bank (FCB) Katswiri Under-20 League with a hard-fought 1–0 victory at Silver Stadium on Wednesday.
The Youth team banked maximum points through Zewo Banda’s solitary goal in an encounter that tested their character against a Scores FC side that came into the match sitting top of the log table.
Head Coach Rodrick Gonani said he was impressed with the hunger shown by his players, saying the victory will give confidence to the team ahead of their FED Steel Engineering Under-19 final against Namasala Academy on Sunday.
“It may be because the players know we have a final ahead, and they played very well today. I saw hunger in every one of them. We had chances that we could have won by several goals, and I am impressed. We can have a very good final this Sunday,” said Gonani.
The coach acknowledged the difficulty of the encounter but praised his players for their fighting spirit and overall performance.
“Our opponent came into the game on top of the log table, so it was a tough encounter. I give credit to the players for a gallant fight, and the performance has given me hope that we will have a good match and hope for a good result come Sunday,” he added.
Silver Strikers Youth will now shift their focus to Sunday’s FED Steel Engineering Under-19 Tournament final against Namasala Academy, with Gonani and his charges aiming to cap their impressive campaign by lifting the trophy.
