Silver Strikers Ladies Coach Patricio Kulemeka has said that the girls are focused on winning the third-place tie on Saturday as they face Gaborone United Ladies.
The side lost 2-1 in a semi-final fight against Zesco Ndola Girls on Thursday. The loss came as the team broken a record of being the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
Kulemeka says it will be very encouraging to win the third-place match in order to bring back the bronze medal.
“It has been a rollercoaster since the day we got here. We have learnt valuable lessons each and every game we have played. At this tournament we played good sides that have been regulars and that has been a good test for us. As we go into the last match, we hope that we get a win and place ourselves on the third position and get back home with a bronze medal”, he said.
On the opponents, Kulemeka said the beauty of the tournament is that teams have quality players that mostly contribute the majority of players in their national teams.
“We studied these teams when we came here. Gaborone United Ladies are a great side, they send a good number of players to their national team just like us and Mamelodi Sundowns. We had time as well of studying their pattern of play and we know how they play. They won the competition last time therefore they can’t be a walk over”, he said.
The match will kick off at 3pm at Gaborone United Stadium before the competition’s final at 6pm.
Mamelodi Sundowns will face Zesco Ndola Girls in the final.
