Silver Strikers Youth booked their place in the final of the FED Steel Engineering Under-19 Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Ascent Soccer Academy at ABC Blue Gym Ground on Friday.
The Youth team found the back of the net in the first half through Wiseman Mzembe Mdumuka, who netted a brace to seal the victory.
Head Coach Rodrick Gonani was delighted with the result and commended his charges for following instructions.
“I am happy with the win. I think our players listened to the team talk. We told them to search for early goals, and we managed to score in the first half and got control of the game,” said Gonani.
The coach has expressed his belief that lifting the trophy now looks attainable.
“Everyone dreams of winning the trophy when in the final. With how we have been playing in this tournament, I am optimistic that we will lift it,” he added.
Gonani further said the technical panel will talk to the players to ensure that the excitement of reaching the final does not make them complacent or lose focus ahead of their upcoming league games.
