Silver Strikers Youth return home after playing their opening two fixtures away in the 2026/27 First Capital Bank (FCB) Katswiri Under-20 National League campaign. The Youth side will welcome Villa FC to Silver Stadium on Sunday.
The Area 47-based lads go into the fixture on the back of a 1-1 away draw against Mchesi Madrid last weekend. The side is uneaten after two games played.
Head coach Rodrick Gonani says the team is determined to win after dropping points in their previous fixture.
“By any cost, we are supposed to win at home, and we are going to do everything to get maximum points. We are coming from a draw, and we cannot afford to drop more points,” said Gonani.
The coach also stated that the target is to get to second or third position and that the team needs to put itself in contention for those positions.
“Namasala have played 3 games and managed to win all. Our target is to get closer to them, and we can only achieve that by winning on Sunday. A win would also help us gain momentum for positive results. That would even help us approach the upcoming away fixtures with a winning mentality, as winning away is difficult yet crucial in the title contention,” he said.
The gaffer provided an update on the injury list, confirming that all players are now available.
“Striker Wiseman Mzembe Mdumuka and goalkeeper Prince Phiri are both back with the team after successfully recovering from their injuries. We have a full squad, and that gives us confidence because it increases competition between the players,” said Gonani.
The Youth team will be aiming to return to winning ways in the 2026/27 FCB Katswiri Under-20 National League campaign while continuing their pursuit of silverware on two fronts this season, with the team also through to the semi-finals of the FED Steel Engineering Under-19 Tournament.
