Silver Strikers Youth have picked up a point on the road after a 1-1 draw against Mchesi Madrid in the 2026/27 First Capital Bank (FCB) Katswiri Under-20 League played at Lilongwe C.C.A.P Ground on Saturday.
The hosts scored first, putting the Youth Central Bankers under pressure. However, Nulu Jana rose to the occasion deep in the second half, finding the equaliser to salvage a point for Silver Strikers Youth.
Head coach Rodrick Gonani praised his charges for their performance despite the result.
“We had a good game, but luck was not on our side. The boys played with the right mentality and gave their all for a positive result. I am impressed with how they fought back. Almost every player was on their A game, and every department delivered according to our game plan.”
Gonani also pointed out an officiating decision that he believes could have influenced the result.
“We scored what I believe was a clear goal, but it was ruled out. We conceded early in the second half, but we managed to come back. It ended 1-1, but we deserved better.”
The coach further said the focus now shifts to the next challenge, with the young Bankers looking to return to winning ways.
“We need to win our next fixture, which we believe will be at home, as we have played 2 consecutive away games. We have dropped 2 points today, and we need to get back to winning ways if we are to compete for the title.” Said Gonani.
Silver Strikers Youth now has 4 points from their opening 2 matches, having collected maximum points in their opening fixture against Kamuzu Barracks Youth in a 1-0 victory last Sunday.
