Spoils were shared at Dedza Stadium on Sunday after playing out to a one-all draw against Luanar Mitundu FC in the eleventh 2026/27 FDH Premiership match. The result has kept the Central Bankers second on the standings with 22 points, with Mighty Wanderers leading with a superior goal difference.

It took only twelve minutes for Zebron Kalima to break the deadlock after he finished off a ball that was brought down by Andrew Joseph. The goal was a testament to a good start by the Area 47 side, who piled more pressure in the whole first half.

Nineteen minutes later, Luanar Mitundu FC leveled matters when Samson Phiri finished off a good ball from Rahim Mtondera. Three minutes after conceding the goal, Lumbani Nyondo was pulled off after sustaining an injury, and Yankho Billiat was introduced.

The two teams went to recess with a goal each.

In the second half, the hosts came out a changed side as they provided stiffer competition than in the first half. At 62 minutes, Christopher Gototo and Charles Chipala were introduced for Lassuli Jali and Chinsisi Maonga.

Ten minutes later, Luanar Mitundu FC made a triple substitution, bringing in Fletcher Bandawe, Precious Segula and Nicholus Kolondore for Charles Mbewe, Henry Msowoya and Samson Phiri.

Both sides tried every trick, but a goal never came in sight. At 90 minutes, Eric Astigah came on for the visitors in place of Andrew Joseph.

The match ended 1 all.

The Coach’s Reaction

Head Coach Peter Mgangira did not hide his frustration, saying his side wasted a lot of chances.

“This is a very disappointing result given how we played in the first half. We were a good side today, only that we didn’t take our chances; however, I should commend the boys for a spirited fight”, Mgangira said.
