Silver Strikers Reserve began their 2026/27 GOJET Investments Central Region Football Association Division League One campaign with a 1-1 draw against Mchinji Villa at ADL Ground in Lumbadzi.
The visitors took the lead in the 20th minute before the young Central Bankers responded through Hadji Dyton, who headed home a Haward Kamuona delivery in the 33rd minute.
Head coach McDonald Yobe admitted that his side still has work to do in the attacking department, saying the team needs to create more scoring opportunities.
Yobe said the technical panel has identified the areas that need improvement and will work on them during training.
“I am happy that we managed to get a point. We will build our momentum from there. We need to improve our approach in the upcoming fixtures, especially in the final third, and I believe we will get better,” he said.
Silver Strikers Reserve started Jonathan Mtonga in goal, with captain Moffat Mnyotho, Prince Kumwembe, Cosmos Lyton, Hadji Dyton, Comfort Unyolo, Alufeyo Nyirenda, Haward Kamuona, Francis Lovemore Kadango and Umali Mussa also in the starting lineup.
Lyton was forced off in the 27th minute and was replaced by Vincent Kamaba. At half-time, Gift Msiska came on for Kamuona. In the 60th minute, Chrispin Julayi and Blessings Phiri replaced Kumwembe and Kadango, respectively, before Brino Mdumuka came on for Kamaba in Silver’s final substitution of the afternoon.
Silver Strikers Reserve will next travel to Linthipe Secondary School ground to play Chimbiya Stars.
