Silver Strikers Youth have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the FED Steel Engineering Under-19 Tournament after overcoming Masters Youth 7-3 on aggregate in the Round of 16.
The tie was played over two legs, with the first match taking place at Silver Stadium on June 13, before the return fixture at Mphungu Primary School Ground on June 21.
The young Central Bankers laid the foundation for qualification with a commanding 7-1 victory in the first leg. Wiseman Mzembe starred with a hat-trick, while Nulu Jana, Anderson Charles, Rahim Walesi and Manase Mambo added a goal each. Blessings Butao scored the consolation goal for Masters Youth.
Masters Youth produced a spirited response in the second leg and secured a 2-0 victory courtesy of Ernest Chataika’s brace. However, the result was not enough to overturn the heavy first-leg deficit as Silver Youth progressed with a 7-3 aggregate triumph.
Silver Strikers Youth made it to the quarterfinal stage alongside Ascent Academy, Lions FC, Mpira Mmudzi Mwathu, Mchesi Madrid, Villa FC, Tick Tack FC and Namasala Soccer Academy in the quarterfinal stage of the competition.
The young Central Bankers are yet to know their next opponents as the quarterfinal draw is still to be conducted.
