Silver Strikers Football Club has finalized a transfer deal with Zimbabwe top-flight league outfit CAPS United for midfielder Uchizi Vunga.
Vunga joins CAPS United at an undisclosed fee. The midfielder follows right back McDonald Lameck, who left the club last week to join Hard Rock FC in Zimbabwe as well.
The left-footed midfielder captained Silver Strikers from the start of the 2026/27 season after joining the Central Bankers in 2021. Vunga quickly became a key player and was instrumental in the 2024 TNM Super League victory, for which he was named the Best Midfielder for both the club and the league.
The former Ekwendeni Hammers (now Mzuzu City Hammers) midfielder also played a vital role in winning the 2025 Charity Shield and FDH Cup. He was part of the team that registered a historic CAF Champions League run that saw the club bow out in the second preliminary round of the competition in its first-ever appearance at the big club football stage.
One memorable moment at Silver Strikers was on 18 October 2025 when he provided an assist to Andrew Joseph when the side hosted Young Africans Sports Club at Bingu National Stadium. The match ended 1-0 in favour of Silver Strikers.
Silver Strikers’ Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba thanked Vunga for his contributions to the club.
“Uchizi was one of our senior players, and we are extremely happy that he has found an opportunity in Zimbabwe to further his football career. We wish him success in Zimbabwe as he is an outstanding player”, said Chimimba.
Vunga last played for Silver Strikers on 14 June this year against Karonga United in the quarterfinal first leg of the Airtel Top 8.
