Attention turns to the second week of the 2026/27 FDH Premiership as we host Moyale Barracks FC at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.

The Central Bankers will go into this match oozing confidence after a perfect start to the season as they beat Kamuzu Barracks 0-2 last Saturday. The team will look to replicate last week’s performance to guarantee acquiring maximum points.

Current Form:

The Central Bankers are returning from a perfect result where the team scored two goals courtesy of Festus Duwe and conceded none. With a good command of the game in the previous fixture, Silver Strikers will look to build on the performance and solidify the perfect start they are currently recording in the new season.

On the other hand, Moyale Barracks, known for their structure and physical approach, travel to Area 47 in Lilongwe with an aim to register their first win after playing out to a goalless draw against Goshen City Dedza Dynamos at Rumphi Stadium on Saturday. The Kaning’ina-based soldiers will be eager to score maximum points and get the season rolling.

Despite their last week’s results, both teams will look to edge the other as the fight for maximum points does not sit on who was good the previous week. Based on the facts above, this encounter looks to be entertaining.

Players to watch:

Both sides boast of having the best of the best when it comes to football on the local scene, but there are always players you expect to rise to the occasion. For Silver Strikers, George Chikooka and Festus Duwe are the players to watch, while on the other end, Charles ‘Bulu’ Nkhoma and Aubrey Nkhumbula are the players to look out for.

Chikooka managed to get his first clean sheet last week, and surely he would like to continue from there, as he has proved to be the goalkeeper who aims to keep the most clean sheets in a season, whilst his teammate, Duwe, who was voted player of the match last week, will want to continue with his fine form as well.

The visitors will rely so much on the ever-present Nkhoma in midfield as well as Nkhumbula, who last week won the player of the match award against Goshen City Dedza Dynamos.

Head-to-Head:

Since 2021, the two sides have faced each other in league action 10 times. Silver Strikers managed to win four times, whilst Moyale Barracks won only once. The two sides have shared spoils five times since.

In the 10 times the two sides have met, Moyale Barracks has managed to score past Silver Strikers five times, whilst the Central Bankers have seen the back of the net in this affair 15 times. The two sides have played in three goalless draws since 2021.

The highest score line is a 5-0 win by Silver Strikers on 9 January 2021.

Team News:

Good news for Silver Strikers as on Saturday, Lumbani Nyondo will get a chance to make his debut for the Area 47 side as he will be available for selection. Nyondo was not available last week as he was nursing a knock. This week, only Felix Dumakude will miss out on this fixture as he is still nursing a knee injury and is still being assessed by the club’s medical staff.

What’s at Stake:

Beyond the three points, this fixture has some importance to both sides as the Central Bankers want to extend their tally to six points, and the visitors look for their first win of the season. This surely will brew the hunger from both ends to do well.
