Head Coach Peter Mgangira has emphasized the need to start the FDH Premiership on a high note, saying the first games of the championship are always important as winning them gives confidence to the team.

Mgangira was speaking to the Club Media ahead of the team’s FDH Championship opening match against Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday at Champions Stadium in Mponela, Dowa.

The opening match comes after six weeks of Pre-season training and the inclusion of new faces to the Area 47 side, which Mgangira feels is enough and encouraging ahead of the championship.

“We have been preparing for the new season for the past six weeks, and we have had a good time. During this time, we have been joined by four Reserve team players, a group of others from other teams, and also continued with those who were already with us. The integration of these three groups has been great, as those from the Reserve side have not just shown us that they just don’t want to gain experience, but they have also shown us competition for places in the team. The new ones have also adapted well to our style, and they know the demands for our team. The old ones know they need to give it all to maintain their positions in the team”, said Mgangira.

On the match on Saturday, Mgangira said he anticipates a tough opposition as Kamuzu Barracks play a physical game that can frustrate the Central Bankers, but his team is ready for the challenge.

“The boys are more than ready ahead of this match as they look sharp and hungry. Most of our players have played against Kamuzu Barracks before, and they know what to expect and how important this game is. We also know that Kamuzu Barracks is looking forward to a good start to the season, but we want to win this one and have a great start to the season as well”, he said.

Silver Strikers will be without Lumbani Nyondo and Felix Dumakude, who are nursing minor knocks.
