Silver Strikers and Villa FC from Chilinde Township in Lilongwe have entered into a three-year agreement on Thursday that will see the two entities collaborate in identifying and developing young football talent in Lilongwe to create a structured pathway into Silver Strikers’ development teams.
The agreement forms part of a formal partnership through which Villa FC will operate as an official Satellite Academy of Silver Strikers Company Limited.
Silver Strikers has the Youth and Reserve teams that compete in the Chipiku Central Region Football Association. They work together to develop players for top-flight football.
As part of the agreement, Silver Strikers is expected to allow Villa FC players to move up into the Silver Strikers teams and to provide technical support to Villa FC.
Speaking after the unveiling of the agreement, Silver Strikers Head of Football Development Patricio Kulemeka said it is an honor to partner with Villa FC, as we are eager to create an opportunity for players from communities of Lilongwe to have that chance of playing for this great club.
“We are happy to partner with Villa FC as they have a similar idea to us. This is our first milestone as Silver Strikers to give a path for players to showcase their skills. We believe that these kids will be happy to see their dream come true through Silver Strikers. We are looking forward to more partnerships like these”, said Kulemeka.
On the other end, Villa FC Owner and Head Coach Ozuka Chisambo said he was happy to partner with Silver Strikers, as this agreement will give a platform to Villa FC players to get exposed and play at a big stage.
“This is a good development for Villa FC as we have proved to have what it takes to provide talent at a big stage, on the level of Silver Strikers. This is a proud moment for us as this will motivate us to do more and see our talented players playing for a big club like Silver Strikers”, he said.
The first cohort of players who moved from Villa FC to Silver Strikers includes Prince Kumwembe, Hadji Dyton, and Alufeyo Nyirenda. The three have all signed four-year contracts.
