All is set for Saturday’s friendly match against Mponela FC at Champions Stadium in Dowa. This will be the first pre-season friendly for the Central Bankers ahead of the new season.
Mponela FC returns from a victorious errand after winning the National Bank of Malawi Under 23 Championship when they beat Karonga United Reserve 3-2 on post-match penalties after playing out to a goalless draw.
This will be the return of the Area 47 side as last time they were in action was on 15th February when the team hosted CAPS United from Zimbabwe.
The friendly match on Saturday will be a platform for the latest recruits to feature in Silver Strikers’ colors. The recruits are defenders Eric Astigah and Lumbani Nyondo, midfielders Lameck Gamphani and Yankho Billiat, forward Mally Kasongo, and goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa.
Silver Strikers will be without Uchizi Vunga, who has a cuff injury he sustained at the Malawi National Football team camp.
Three more Silver Strikers players namely McDonal Lameck, George Chikooka, and Festus Duwe will also be absent on Saturday as they have travelled along with the national to Botswana.
The 2026 season will begin on 25 April for the Central Bankers as they will kickstart the season with the FDH Premiership.
Last season, Silver Strikers won the Charity Shield and the FDH Cup whilst finishing the league on third position.
