Festus Duwe has been crowned the Top Goal Scorer of the 2025 Airtel Top 8.
However, Duwe narrowly missed out on the Player of the Tournament accolade after the award went to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets defender Blessings Mpokera.
The Silver Strikers midfielder finished the competition with three goals in three matches, a tally that placed him at the top of the scoring charts. The performances also earned him two Player of the Match awards.
Reacting to the win, Duwe expressed excitement and joy at bringing the accolade home.
“I’m so excited to be the top goal scorer. It has always been a dream to be recognized with an individual award, and this makes me a happy person. I really want to thank my teammates for helping me reach this milestone, and also a special thanks to Silver Strikers brand for giving me a chance to showcase myself,” Duwe said.
The achievement comes as Duwe’s 2025 season was challenging for him, as he spent more than four months on the sidelines due to injury.
Duwe’s comeback has now been rewarded on the international stage after he was named in the final squad of the Malawi National Football Team set to travel to Botswana on Friday for the Four Nations Tournament.
