Midfielder Yankho Billiat has on Wednesday signed a three-year contract with Silver Strikers.

Billiat joins the 2025 FDH Cup Champions on a free transfer. The midfielder last played for the Civil Servants after joining them in 2024 from his boyhood side, Green Rangers FC.

Speaking after signing his contract that will keep him at Silver Strikers until 2028, Billiat said he was excited to join the Capital City giants.

“Being a boy who has grown up in Lilongwe admiring some players that have served this great club, I am so excited about making this move. I have had a wonderful time playing for Civil Service United, and I would like to thank them for the two years I was with them. As I flip the page I look forward to an exciting journey ahead”, said Billiat.

The midfielder becomes the fifth signing ahead of the 2026 football season for Silver Strikers after the Area 47 outfit earlier signed Lumbani Nyondo, Christopher Mikuwa, Mally Kasongo, and Eric Atsigah.

Billiat, who will don the jersey number 12 for Silver Strikers said he expects stiff competition from fellow teammates but was quick to say that he will be up for it.

“The game of football is always exciting when you play with pressure. I know I am joining a side that has a lot of talent but that is something to motivate me and do better. Therefore, I am ready to showcase my talent as well and help Silver Strikers achieve its goals”, he added.

Last season, Billiat was involved in eight league goals for the Area 9-based side from the 19 games he played.
