A brace by Deborah Henry on Saturday pushed Silver Strikers Ladies closer to glory, as the side stretched its lead at the top of the table to ten points.
A loss by second-placed Ascent Academy on Saturday increased the Area 47 Ladies’ chances of winning the title.
Henry scored the first goal of the match after seven minutes when she received a pass from Yamikani Mhango.
The goal gave confidence to the Andrew Chikhosi-led side as the team controlled possession until half time.
At recess, Mphatso Gondwe was substituted for Madyina Ngulube.
The second half saw Silver Strikers Ladies increase momentum in search for a second goal but the guests stood still.
Though the league leaders created numerous chances, they had to wait for the 90th minute to find the second goal.
Henry, secured her 22nd goal of the season after connecting a pass from Ireen Khumalo.
After the match, Chikhosi praised the girls for a spirited fight.
“Another crucial three points today, we are still pushing to win this league and i tjink we are kn the right track. We haven’t finished it off yet and for that we are still focused on winning the rest of the games and see where we finish off from,” said Chikhosi.
With the win, Silver Strikers Ladies is now on 39 points from 14 games played.
