Head Coach Peter Mgangira has vowed to do everything he can to win the fourth Lilongwe derby of the season as his team faces Civil Service United on Sunday at the Civil Stadium in Lilongwe. The two teams have already met three times this year: early in the season in a league match, then in the semifinals of the Airtel Top 8, and later in the FDH Cup.
Sunday’s match will be a return fixture in the TNM Super League, after the Central Bankers won 2-0 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
Mgangira acknowledged that the Civil Servants will come out strong on Sunday to avoid a fourth loss to Silver Strikers this season.
“This is not going to be an easy game. Civo is coming from a loss, but when you are going into a match like this, previous results don’t matter. We are ready, and we will make sure that we give it all and get maximum points. The good thing is that currently we have a strong squad, with Maxwell Paipi and Nickson Mwase back, and Festus Duwe looking sharp. I think we have all the resources to get a good result on Sunday,” said Mgangira.
Silver Strikers will return to play after beating Moyale Barracks 3-0 on Wednesday, while Civil Service United will be coming off a 0-2 loss against MAFCO FC on Thursday.
Mwase and Paipi missed the midweek game due to suspension, but will be available for selection on Sunday. Ernest Petro and Andrew Joseph will miss the game due to injury and illness, respectively.
