All is set ahead of Wednesday’s TNM Super League clash against Moyale Barracks at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
The Central Bankers come into the game following a two-all draw against league leaders Mighty Wanderers on Saturday, while Moyale Barracks are coming from a 1-2 win over Blue Eagles at Nankhaka Stadium on Sunday.
Ahead of the match, Head Coach Peter Mgangira has emphasized the importance of securing maximum points on Wednesday to keep their title defense alive.
Mgangira also mentioned that after Saturday’s draw with Mighty Wanderers, the team focused on defending set-piece situations, which have been a recent problem area.
“The mood is perfect in our squad; we are more focused on managing the psychological and physical side of the boys. We are playing a lot of games in a very short period of time, and on Wednesday, we are playing against a side that is coming from a win, which means they will come with confidence on Wednesday. Playing against Moyale is always a good battle, but we are playing at home, and we just need to get maximum points. It’s a must-win game for us,” said Mgangira.
Regarding the players who will miss this midweek game, Nickson Mwase has joined Maxwell Paipi on the terraces after accumulating three yellow cards, resulting in a suspension. Chisomo Mpachika and Innocent are available for selection, as Andrew Joseph is still recovering from illness and has not returned to training.
Mgangira views the absence of some players as an opportunity for others to step up.
“I always say that if someone is out, those who are available should come in and do a good job. An example is Innocent Shema, who played extremely well against Wanderers when he filled in for Paipi. That’s what is needed. We signed a good number of players, and everyone is equally important. Everyone should always be ready to come in and serve the team,” he added.
Currently, Silver Strikers sit in third place with 41 points from 21 games played.
