“Let’s not get complacent”- Mgangira

Head Coach Peter Mgangira has warned his team not to take Saturday’s TNM Super League match against Mighty Wanderers lightly, noting that his side has had the upper hand in this fixture in recent meetings.

Last season, Silver Strikers won both the home and away league matches against the Lali Lubani Road-based side. This year, the Central Bankers drew 1-1 with Wanderers in Blantyre in league action before defeating the same opponents on penalties to win the FDH Cup.

Mgangira emphasized the importance of respecting Mighty Wanderers, noting that they are yet to lose a match, but he was quick to add that his team doesn’t need to fear them.

“We look fresh after resting for a week due to the FIFA International break. This is a big match, a good one it seems, and we are more than ready for this encounter. As I always say, we respect our opponents, but we don’t fear; we are playing a good side with talented players, but we need to do our best to win and close the gap. Of course, we know it’s never easy, but the boys understand the importance of these three points, and I believe they will perform well and win,” Mgangira said.

Silver Strikers will be without Chisomo Mpachika, Emmanuel Kaunga, Innocent Mtonga, and Andrew Joseph due to injuries and illness, while Maxwell Paipi will miss this match as he is serving a suspension for a red card received in the game against Dedza Dynamos in Dedza two weeks ago.

Mpachika is nursing a knee injury and is expected to return next week, while Kaunga is battling a groin injury. Mtonga sustained a minor hamstring injury during training and is expected back in a week, and Joseph is suffering from an illness.

All other players are available for selection as we approach our 21st match of the 2025 TNM Super League season.
