Head Coach Peter Mgangira has warned his charges to disregard past results and remain focused as they prepare for the FDH Cup on Sunday.
Silver Strikers will lock horns with Mighty Wanderers at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
To reach the final, the Central Bankers booted out Civil Service United, while Mighty Wanderers ousted FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
The last time the two sides met in the semifinal of the competition in 2021, the Area 47 side won 3-0. That year, Silver Strikers went on to lift the cup.
However, Mgangira said, as much as history is the best teacher, the final on Sunday is totally a different game.
“We are well prepared for the final tomorrow, as the boys have shown up well in training as we were preparing for this encounter. We have a good game ahead of us, and we expect nothing but a win out of this match. As a team, we won’t let previous records move us or let us down,” Mgangira said.
Last year, the Central Bankers were booted out by Blue Eagles, losing 5-3 on post-match penalties after a goalless draw.
This year, Captain Chikondi Kamanga feels getting to the final itself is a boost for the players.
“Morale is high in camp as we count down to the final. We are so motivated as we are playing in our second final this year, and we have to do everything to get a win by the end of the day,” he said.
Earlier this year, Silver Strikers lost 1-0 in the Airtel Top 8 final played at the same venue.
Silver Strikers were the first team to win the FDH Cup in 2021.
