Silver Strikers suffered their second defeat of the 2025 TNM Super League on Sunday after going down 2-1 to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
The Bankers took the lead in the second half, but the hosts overturned the scores to grab maximum points.
The match started on a high note for Silver Strikers as the team created many chances within the first twenty minutes, but failed to convert them. Despite the efforts, the game went to recess without a goal.
In the second half, the Area 47 side continued to pile pressure in search of a goal. At 52 minutes, Uchizi Vunga received a pass from Binwell Katinji, but his effort failed to cause the much-needed damage. Five minutes later, Katinji and Zebron Kalima were rested for Ernest Petro and Stanie Davie.
Andrew Joseph put us ahead in the 67th minute, redirecting Chikondi Kamanga’s effort. The goal came when Kamanga reclaimed possession in midfield. Five minutes later, the hosts equalized through Ephraim Kondowe.
At 73 minutes, Charles Chipala came in for Joseph. Five minutes after the change, Bullets took the lead from a spot kick when George Chikooka was penalized for a suspected foul.
Five minutes from time, Silver Strikers made another substitution, bringing in Emmanuel Allan or Levison Maganizo. The change did not bring dividends as the match score line did not change until regulation time was up.
After the match, Head Coach Peter Mgangira conceded defeat, praising his charges for a well-played match, but decried the decisions of the officiating panel.
”It was a 50-50 game; we played well, so did our opponents. We scored first, but there was a lapse in defense, and we conceded a goal. We came to get maximum points, but it wasn’t the case; we lost,” said Mgangira.
With the loss, Silver Strikers remain third with 36 points from 18 games played.
