We have wrapped up August, the eighth month of the year 2025. This is the month that saw Silver Strikers collecting seven points from a possible nine in the 2025 TNM Super League and qualifying for the round of 16 of the 2025 FDH Cup.
In August alone, the Central Bankers played Mighty Tigers three times, twice in league action and once in cup action.
Silver Strikers started the month by hosting the Kaukau Boys at Silver Stadium where the match ended goalless. Before playing back to back matches with the same opposition in Blantyre, the Area 47 side played away at Rumphi Stadium entertaining Mzuzu City Hammers. To finish off the month, we then travelled twice to Blantyre to face Mighty Tigers in league action and in the round of 32 of the FDH Cup respectively.
The ninth month of the year will begin with a FIFA sanctioned International break, which will halt all top flight football competitions in the country from the 1st to the 9th of September.
Going forward, September promises to be the climax of Silver Strikers’ season as the side shifts its focus to the continental CAF Champions League’s first preliminary round against Elgeco Plus FC of Madagascar. Probably the reason the reason having September as the month to remember.
The first preliminary round will be played away (venue yet to be confirmed) between 19 and 21 September and the return leg at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe between 26 and 28 September 2025.
With these international engagements, the Central Bankers will not partake in local games within and in around these dates in September.
After a successful month for the Ladies side in August, the side is expected to return to action after a two weeks break. The 2025 National Bank of Malawi Premiership was on break following the participation of Kukoma Ntopwa Queens in this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League and COSAFA Women’s Qualifiers in Johannesburg, South Africa. During this period, the Malawi National Women’s team was also in camp as part of the FIFA Women’s Football International break where they played in two international friendlies against Lesotho in Blantyre.
The NBM Women’s Premiership is expected to resume on 6th September with Silver Strikers Ladies aiming to extend its unbeaten run and maintain top spot in the league. Silver Ladies is currently on first position with 12 points from four games, holding on to the record as being the only side yet to face defeat.
The Reserve side is currently eleven games into the 2025 Chipiku Central Region Premier Division, having collected 19 points with six wins, three defeats, and one draw.
In September, the Reserve side is expected to finish off the first round of the league and refocus on the last part of the competition.
Lastly, the youth side continues to make good strides in the 2025 FCB Katswili Under 20 Lilongwe Youth Football League as the team is top of the table with 29 points from 13 games played. The league is two games away from its midpoint and in the month the Youth side will look forward to strengthen their lead and work on bringing home the league.
