Silver Strikers Head Coach says a win is essential on Wednesday as his team hosts Karonga United at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Central Bankers are back home after a win in cup action on Sunday and a league draw away at Nankhaka Stadium the previous weekend. The team is currently eighth with 12 points.

Ahead of the eighth fixture, Mgangira admits that Karonga United is a strong, young squad capable of a lot, but his players are prepared to secure maximum points.

“Since the win on Sunday, we have had good recovery sessions, and training has been very positive. Coming from a win and knowing that we’ve qualified for a final, the boys look sharp. We’re playing at home, and we understand the importance of getting three points in front of our supporters. I always say that we respect the opponents, but we do not fear them. Karonga United has a very good, young, energetic squad. We saw how they played their last game, even though they lost. We know what to expect. The good thing is that the boys also watched them, so they know it’s a team capable of anything. So we’re ready for them,” said Mgangira.

Silver Strikers will be without captain Chikondi Kamanga, who is still in rehab, recovering from an ankle injury, while Charles Chipala continues with light training as he waits to return to full action.

Left-back Precious Sambani, midfielder Gift Chunga, and forward Samuel Ademeyi are still out due to various injuries.
