Three Silver Strikers players have been nominated for the April Player of the Month award in the first month of the 2025 Season. The three are Zebron Kalima, Festus Duwe and Maxwell Paipi.
The monthly award this season is sponsored by Bluewave Energies Ltd and CP investment where the winner will go away with K258,100 worth of a LPG Package which includes a 9Kg cylinder, Gas, LPG Pipe, Regulator, Clamp pins and Stove as well as a K500,000 shopping voucher from CP Investment.
In the month of April, Silver Strikers faced FCB Nyasa Big Bullets (0-1) in the league opener before playing away to a 2 all draw against Chitipa United at Karonga Stadium. The third assignment in the month was a home tussle against Moyale Barracks in the first leg of the 2025 Airtel Top 8 Quarterfinal. The Area 47 outfit played its last match in the month against Kamuzu Barracks (0-2) at Champions Stadium in Mponela.
During the four matches, Maxwell Paipi proved to be a solid force at the back as he showed command of the defense that saw the team concede only two goals in open play in league action. Paipi’s composure saw Silver Strikers stage attacks from the back as he was the start of most moves the team made going forward. His bold performances earned him a call up to the Malawi National Football Team camp ahead of the second phase of CHAN qualifying games. Paipi played the whole 90 minutes in the four matches in April.
In his first season with Silver Strikers, Festus Duwe has been nominated in the monthly award with his deft performances with the Central Bankers. Duwe, who scored the lone goal against Moyale Barracks in the Airtel Top 8 to give the Central Bankers an edge going into the second leg of the tie has had a good start of his journey in Area 47 as he has been seen propelling the team in attack mode. Duwe won the Dolo Wa Match award in the game against Moyale Barracks. The boy in funky locks has been instrumental in creating goal scoring opportunities for the team, one being when his header came off the woodwork when we played against Chitipa United.
The last nominee is Zebron Kalima. The jersey number ten has so far been involved in two goals in the month of April where he provided an assist against Chitipa United and a goal against Kamuzu Barracks in Mponela. Kalima, with his twists and turns, has also played in all four games in the month of April.
