2024 TNM Super League Champions Silver Strikers have set eyes on the 2025 NBS Bank Charity Shield scheduled for Saturday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Central Bankers will face off with Mighty Wanderers FC.

In a pre-match interview, Head Coach Peter Mgangira anticipates a good game saying both teams usually play a good game, and the two sides adding more players during the off-season will add flavor to the match.

Silver Strikers face Mighty Wanderers FC after winning the league title last year, and the Lali Lubani side find themselves in the season’s curtain raiser after winning the 2024 Castel Challenge Cup.

“It’s a critical game to win as it gives confidence to the players going into the season. We have had new signings the same to our opponents, therefore we anticipate good opposition from them. In terms of pressure, they say pressure is pleasure; therefore, this is what we signed up for, and we are ready to go for the match,” said Mgangira.

This will be the second time the two sides meet in the curtain raiser after the teams met again in 2018 when the Charity Shield was a two-day event with 4 teams taking part.

Both teams have never won the Charity Shield since its inception in 2016.
