Silver Strikers Ladies Head Coach Andrew Chikhosi has urged his players to stay composed as they face Civil Service Women in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Goshen FAM Women’s Championship at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre on Tuesday.
Silver Strikers Ladies qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating Mighty Wanderers Queens (5-0) and Topik Sisters FC (6-0) in the tournament’s playoffs. Having finished second at the regional level, their opponents automatically qualified for the national tournament.
Chikhosi believes that a win is crucial on Tuesday as it will send a strong message about their intentions in the tournament.
“As a team, I feel we are in good form; the two matches we have played here in the playoffs have shaped us and provided a clear picture of how we can best utilize our players to achieve better results in the upcoming games. The playoffs have proven to be a blessing in disguise as we have adapted well. We recognize that Tuesday’s game is a derby, but all we need from the girls is composure in every area, and I believe that will push us forward,” said Chikhosi.
On the regional level, the two sides could not surpass each other, finishing with two 1-all draws in both home and away fixtures.
