Silver Strikers Ladies on Saturday tamed Topik Sisters to-size to book themselves a slot in the quarterfinal stage of the 2024 Goshen FAM Women’s national championship.
With today’s win, Silver Strikers Ladies have won the Playoffs and will face Civo Service Women on Tuesday from mid day.
On Saturday, Coach Andrew Chikhosi made eight changes to the side that won 5-0 against Mighty Wanderers Queens on Friday.
The match started slowly but the Area 47 Ladies made their intentions known at 31 minutes after Gladys Banda broke the deadlock. Chikondi Gondwe crossed the ball for Banda to finish off the ball in the net.
At the start of the second half, Samir Amidu, Ireen Khumalo, Eluby Botoman, and Chisomo Banda were introduced for Ireen Sibande, Mphatso Gondwe, Chikondi Gondwe, and Bridgett Mkuzilire.
The changes ignited power in the Silver Strikers Ladies’ side and led the side to score five more goals through Chisomo Banda (3), Wezzie Mvula, and Carol Mathyola.
After the match, Chikhosi was happy with the result as he said it allowed them to continue with the mission to the national finals.
“We are happy to qualify for the quarterfinal stage of the tournament and we look forward to the next stage. In today’s game, we did not have a good start but after several changes, we were good on the ball and scored more goals. Going forward, we just have to work on our defense and attack then perform better”, said Chikhosi.
Silver Strikers Ladies will face Civil Service Women at mid day on Tuesday at Mpira Stadium.
