Silver Strikers Ladies on Wednesday qualified for the Goshen National playoffs after sharing spoils in a two draw against MDF Lioness at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
The point gained means Silver Strikers has finished third on the standings with 36 points.
For finishing third, the side will play in a playoff round where two teams will finally qualify for the national phase.
On Wednesday, the Area 47 Ladies side came from behind after Asimenye Simwaka went around Samir Amidu to snatch the lead. However, Deborah Henry levelled matters to ignite her side to return into the match.
In the second half, Grace Kakangula put the Bankers ladies ahead after a well worked move that saw the guest well beaten. As the game was nearing the end, Asimenye Simwaka scored from a distance when what meant to be a cross ended at the back of the net.
The last five minutes of the match were so tense as both ends wanted to snatch a win that was not in sight. After added time the two sides ended in a stalemate.
Silver Strikers Ladies Head Coach was happy with the result considering that it was a fierce encounter.
“We have gotten a point this afternoon which was hard fought against our fierce rivals in the game and we feel this point takes as forward. Every team from the start of the league wanted the top spot but football is very unpredictable so we are oky that atleast we have qualified for the playoffs to the national phase, we will be prepared for this round so that we qualify to the national phase”, said Chikhosi.
Silver Strikers Ladies has finished the regional round unbeaten after winning 10 games and sharing spoils six times.
