Head Coach Peter Mponda has stressed the need to trade carefully in the return leg of the 2024 Airtel Top 8 Quarterfinal match against Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos on Sunday at Dedza Stadium.
The Central Bankers have a 4-1 advantage after the first-leg win courtesy of goals from Chimwemwe Idana, Zebron Kalima, and a brace from Chinsisi Maonga.
Mponda says it’s time to forget the first leg result and approach the game with an attacking mind to get a good result and qualify into the semi finals.
“The first 45 minutes of the first step should not get into our heads. We managed to score four in the first 45 minutes. They can also do the same in the last 45 minutes. This is a two-way match and we need to go there cautiously. We can protect it and proceed to the next level. We plan to Dedza and attack from the first whistle and if we manage to get a quick go, it will be good for us however, if we see that we’re not doing well in attack we will try to manage the game defensively. We have to be strong”, said Mponda.
Silver Strikers go into this match holding a record of not missing out in the semifinal stage of the Airtel Top 8 since its inception in 2017.
The Central Bankers have won the competition twice in 2017 and 2019.
