Silver Strikers Ladies have set eyes on the top of the Central Region 2024 Goshen Fam Women’s League as they face Ascent Academy on Thursday at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
This is their last game of the first round.
The Bankers Ladies are currently second with 17 points from seven games and a win on Thursday will dislodge Civo Service Women who are leading with 19 points from the 8 games they have played.
Speaking ahead of the match, Head Coach Andrew Chikhosi says he expects to win the match at all costs.
Chikhosi said his side has been preparing for this game for the past two weeks and the girls are ready.
“We are going into this match with a record that Ascent has beaten us in two consecutive meetings but this time we have done our homework properly so that we must win come Thursday. A win is crucial to us as this is our last game of the first round therefore winning this game will boost the morale of the girls so that we can start the second round on a high note as we aim to keep our unbeaten run going”, said Chikhosi.
Silver Strikers Ladies and Ascent Academy are the only teams that have never tasted defeat this season.
The Area 47 ladies’ side is the only team with the highest goal defense as they have managed to score 30 goals whilst conceding only four. The team’s forward Chikondi Gondwe leads the scorer’s chart with 10 goals.
