Head Coach Peter Mponda has said his side is ready for Wednesday’s 2024 Airtel Top 8 Quarterfinal first-leg showdown against Dedza Dynamos at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
Mponda says he is expecting Dedza Dynamos to come to Silver Stadium in defense mode to get a fair result and finish off the tie in the second leg in Dedza, however, he has confidence in his charges to unlock the game and get a good result.
Silver Strikers and Dedza Dynamos are both returning from 1 all draws on Saturday in league action. The last time the two teams met was in April at Dedza Stadium in the top-flight league where the match ended 1-1.
“This is an important game, with Dedza Dynamos playing away I strongly believe that they will come with a defensive mind because they know that it’s just a first leg and they’ve got another match to play at their home ground. We are prepared for them and I think we have got the players that can unlock their defensive strategy and approach. This is a cup game where It’s different from a league match, with three games only you are into the final so we know the importance of a win to go forward”, said Mponda.
Tatenda M’balaka and Atusaye Nyondo are the only players to miss out tomorrow due to injury.
Silver Strikers won the inaugural Airtel Top 8 in 2017 and last won it again in 2019. The Cup returns to Silver Stadium since 14th May 2019 when the Central Bankers won 1-0 against Mighty Wanderers through a goal by Duncan Nyoni.
