On a bright Saturday afternoon, Moyale Barracks has registered it self as the first team in the 2024 TNM Super League season to get a point out of Silver Stadium in Lilongwe after a one all draw.
The point moved Silver Strikers to 45 points from 19 games and has kept the Bankers’ unbeaten run going this far.
Moyale Barracks were first to find the back of the net at 23 minutes after Emmanuel Allan connected a cross from the right side of the field.
Four minutes later, Chimwemwe Idana was thrown into the fray replacing Chikondi Kamanga and the substitution beared fruits as two minutes later Zebron Kalima pulled level after receiving a ball from Katinji. The move was started by Idana.
At 35 minutes, Charles Chipala hit the woodwork after a good exchange of passes from the back to the front.
The game went to half time leveled. At halftime Levison Maganizo and Chisomo Mpachika were rested for Friday Osagie and McDonald Lameck to have their run.
McDonald Lameck proved to be the missing piece as he caused trouble to the opponetas when he created numerous chances but the final touch to register a goal in the box was poor.
At 70 minutes, Binwell Katinjis header went wide after he received a cross from McDonald Lameck. Three minutes later, Stanie Davie and Chinsisi Maonga came in for Binwell Katinji and Charles Chipala.
The changes did not bring positive results as the game ended 1-1.
In post match interviews, head coach Peter Mponda said the result does not reflect the play his side showcased as the team created alot of chances.
“We were playing at home today and i should admit we have dropped two points. The performance of the team was good as we kept possession and created alot of chances but we were not that sharp in the final third. After this one we return on the pitch and see how best we can do to get the next one”, he said
The Area 47 outifit will next host Dedza Dynamos on Wednesday in the Quarterfinal of the 2024 Airtel Top 8.
