Nineteen-year-old Silver Strikers Reserve midfielder Lassuli Jali scored a beauty in his dream maiden appearance for the club’s senior team in a friendly match against Jenda United at Aubrey Dimba stadium in Mchinji.
Going by what the former First Lady of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt once said “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. Jali believed in his dream and he donned the Silver Strikers jersey for the main team.
On Sunday, Coach Peter Mponda named a traveling squad that included the nineteen-year-old something the boy never dreamed of.
After covering almost 120 kilometers in the main team bus to Mchinji, Lassuli was shocked to learn that he was drafted in the starting eleven.
“I was very surprised to learn that I am starting the game in midfield against Jenda United. This was shocking to me but I had to believe in myself and be read. However, I was so excited as I knew that one day this opportunity would come. I had to play my game and help the team win”, he said.
Watching the match unfold, Lassuli Jali proved to be a menace as his touch was perfect for the enjoyment of those who came to watch the game.
In the second half, Jali registered an assist after setting up Mark Fodya for the third goal at 81 minutes of the match before he finished off a beauty at 87 minutes. The game ended 4-0.
“The goal I scored was exciting to me as a reserve player and I feel the game will give me confidence as I continue with our games for the Reserve side. I feel this is a moment I will always cherish and look forward to many more games to come”, he added.
Lassuli Jali joined Silver Strikers Reserve in 2022 from Civil Service United Youth.
