Head coach Peter Mponda said his side needs to tread carefully ahead of the sixth 2024 TNM Super League match against the newly promoted CRECK Sporting Club on Sunday at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
CRECK Sporting Club is eighth on the standings with seven points from five games played.
Mentored by McDonald Nginde Mtetemera who is a former Silver Strikers assistant coach, Mponda feels his side will be facing someone who knows Silver Strikers very well and for that, his side will need to play it’s cards right.
“We are ready as a team, we have done all the required preparations in readiness for this match. It is not going to be a walkover as CRECK is a good side with a good coach who knows our team very well and he is someone who took Chitipa United to greater heights last season so it won’t be easy we just need to tread carefully”, he said.
On pressure mounting as the side remains top and unbeaten, the gaffer says pressure is always there but it is just up to them to do their best.
“In a game of football pressure is always there, pressure is part of the job and if you don’t feel pressure then you don’t know what you are fighting for. The boys are working hard to get results like the way they did in Karonga and that is very important”, he added.
Gift Chunga, Duncan Nyoni, Stanie Davie, and Chisomo Mpachika will be missing in action for the Central Bankers as they are nursing injuries whilst Christopher Gototo has returned to training this week and is up for selection.
