A goalless draw against our town rivals Civil Service United on Sunday has wrapped up our 2024 Pre-season preparations. The game came after wins against MAFCO FC, Kamuzu Barracks, Bangwe All Stars, Santhe Admarc and in a training match against Ekhaya FC.

On Sunday, the Central Bankers rolled up the affairs at Champions Stadium on a high note with some good exchange of passes and it was therefore no surprise that 8 minutes into the match we had two corners but failed to hit the back of the net.

After 18 minutes of play, the Servants raised the tempo of their game and foiled every attack move to deny the Bankers a goal.

Binwell Katinji failed to head it home at 37 minutes after Emmanuel Muira crossed in a fantastic ball to keep the scores unchanged at recess. Come second half, nothing much changed except the game turning more physical.

Head Coach Peter Mponda made his first change at 72 minutes by bringing in Paul Kamsungwi and Zebron Kalima for Uchizi Vunga and Duncan Nyoni. The changes did not bring the much needed goals until the end of regulation time.

Speaking after the game Mponda said the result was a true reflection of the game

“It was a good derby and that is how football should be played. People who came here have watched a good game. I am satisfied with my boys as today they were sharp both on and off the ball. By the end of this game I think I can confidently say that we are ready for the season”, Mponda said.

Today’s game marked the end of Pre-season action for the Central Bankers who have won four out of the five games they have played ahead of the 2024 season.
