With a few weeks away from kickoff, Head coach Peter Mponda says the team is on the right track in preparation for the 2024 football season.
The gaffer speaks in readiness for two friendly matches over the weekend.
Silver Strikers will play away against Santhe Admarc at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji on Saturday before traveling to Mponela on Sunday to play Civil Service United at Champions Stadium.
Mponda said he was worried about fitness levels but the boys have pulled up and they look like they are getting there.
“These friendlies have helped our team to gain match fitness and I think we are in a better position right now. The games we have played this far have also helped us to see the aspect of our game in both sides, that is when we have the ball and when we do not have the ball. I feel we were already good whilst in possession but we needed to work on the other aspect when our opponents are with the ball. I feel by now we are good”, said Mponda.
On the availability of players, Mponda confirmed that Emmanuel Kaunga is available this weekend as he returns from injury and says his return will help to boost competition of centrebacks in the team.
Meanwhile, Tatenda M’balaka is still not available as he is nursing an injury.
These two friendlies might be the last pre-season action for the Central Bankers as the team face FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the season’s opener on 30th March this year.
