Silver Strikers rope in Chikooka as Katinji makes a return to Area 47

Former Chitipa United FC goalkeeper George Chikooka on Monday completed a move to Silver Strikers on an undisclosed fee after serving Chitipa United from 2018.

Simultaneously, energetic forward Binwell Katinji has returned to the Central Bankers on a two-year deal. Katinji first joined Silver Strikers in 2016 but left in 2018 when he joined Malanti Chiefs in Eswatini and later returned home to play for Civil Service United.

Playing in the 2023 season for the Civil Servants, Katinji scored 11 goals four shy of the 2023 Tnm Super league top goal scorer.

Chikooka, who previously played for Baka City before joining Chitipa United, has penned a three-year deal with the Central Bankers.

The goal minder who was one clean sheet away from the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets (13) last season said he was glad to join the Area 47 side as the move shows his growth as a player.

“I am happy to have joined Silver Strikers, this is a big team which every player would want to serve. As I join the club I believe I will play my part to fight for success and honors as this move has been my dream all along”, he said.

On his return, Katinji said he did not hesitate to return to Area 47 as he felt he had not completed his mission.

“I’m delighted to return to Silver Strikers as I think I had an unfinished project that I want to fulfill. I understand very well what it requires to be here and I will work hard and to do well”, said Katinji.

The two have joined Christopher Gototo, McDonald Lameck, and Charles Chipala who joined the Central Bankers this year ahead of the 2014 season.
