The 2023 TNM Super league season was a good run for left back Tatenda M’balaka who produced a stellar performance for the Central Bankers.
A Product of Play Football Malawi Academy in Lilongwe, the Bankers’ jersey number 22 first played top flight football in 2020 when he was loaned out to Red Lions and permanently joined the Central Bankers the following year.
This is the season which saw him earn his first call up to the Malawi national football team and got his first cap for the Flames.
In the league, ‘Joker’ as he is fondly called played 27 matches out of the 30 and won the FOL Man of the match award once when he played against MAFCO FC at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
He is short of goals in the 2023 season as he never scored one but assisted twice. Tatenda was never booked for an early shower in the 27 games he played but was cautioned six times.
Earlier in the season, Tatenda was voted as Mika Greenland Player of the month for June after winning the award once in the previous season.
Honestly I don’t trust the way these nominations are done…it shows those players from the teams with the largest base of supporters have an upper hand of being nominated or winning
