In great style, Silver Strikers Ladies finished the Central Region Football Association of Malawi Women’s football league on third position by thumping Kamuzu Institute 28 goals to none on Sunday.
With the win the Ladies side has qualified for the national phase of the tournament.
16 goals by Deborah Henry, a hattrick each by Gladys Banda, and Chisomo Banda, a brace each by Chikondi Gondwe and Grace Kakangula and a goal each from Linda Manda and Rhoda Chikuse were enough for the Central Bankers ladies to outdo their 19-0 first round win over Kamuzu Institute.
The 28-0 win cemented a third place finish for the Area 47 ladies who have finished with 33 points from 14 games.
In his reaction, head coach Andrew Chikhosi said the girls have finished on a high note regardless of the position.
“We have finished third in the regional phase but we have seen some progress as the team has now gelled up and we expect even better results come next season”, said Chikhosi.
MDF Lioness have been crowned regional champions after finishing top with 37 points.
