Emmanuel Kaunga, a lanky center back is an unsung song of Silver Strikers FC who possesses a sharp defensive ability that is coupled with a fantastic trait of intercepting threats from opponents.
Dawning jersey number 26, Kaunga, who is in his maiden season with the Central Bankers having joined the Area 47 outfit as a free agent after a spell with Ekwendeni Hammers put up a stellar performance in his debut against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the opening match of the 2023 season.
Since then, he has been silently dominating as a solid rock in defence for Silver Strikers as he is currently the only in field player in Sky blue and white colours not to miss all the competitive matches that Silver Strikers FC has played this far.
His well-timed interceptions and ball distribution ability has been some of the qualities that has made Silver Strikers FC the least conceding team this far.
In 10 games in the league and one cup game, Silver Strikers has conceded only four times.
The team has conceded a goal each against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Ekwendeni Hammers, Red Lions and Bangwe All Stars.
In a game of football, strikers or midfielders get most of the praise as their prowess can be easily tracked through statistics. Assists and goals scored can easily put them on a higher platform for everyone to see how good they are.
However, Kaunga is one type of player that makes it difficult not to be noticed as he is very sharp in his role as a central defender.
Kaunga whose main partner in Central defence is Nickson Mwase, their duo has only conceded a single goal against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets from the 6 league games that they have both played together.
