YOUNG CENTRAL BANKERS COME FROM BEHIND TO BEAT MKANDA YOUTH

Silver strikers Reserve was forced to come from behind to continue their winning streak in the Chipiku Premier Division on Saturday.

The young Bankers were Going into their seventh game of the Chipiku Central Region Premier Division undefeated and without conceding.

The Area 47 lads started the game on a high note as they controlled possession and piled pressure on the hosts.

It was however at 15 minutes that Mkanda Youth tried goalkeeper Dennis Chalila with a shot from the 18 yard box which he parred away to accord the guests a corner.

At 20 minutes, Mkanda’s attack yielded results after a well launched counter attack saw Emmanuel Gwizima scoring some meters outside the box for the visitors to take the lead.

Gwizima’s goal meant the young bankers record of not conceding in the premier Division was broken.

Macdonald Yobe made three changes to add firepower with Francis Lackson, Sheriff Ntondo and Lifton Gunde paving way for Rabson Banda, Felix Selemani and Imran Kaukau.

In the 40th minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty after Kalima was brought down in the box. A decision that didn’t go down well with Mkanda and this forced the game to be stopped for some minutes.

10 minutes later the decision stood and Kalima made no mistake but to level the scores.

As the game was going to recess it was 1 all.

Coming into the second half the young Bankers showed intent to claim the maximum points as they attacked wave after wave.

After a good exchange of passes by the hosts, Kalima was set free to score his second goal that put his side ahead in the game.

A few minutes later after scoring a brace Kalima capitalised on a defensive error by Mkanda that saw him score in an empty net to claim a hat trick and win it for the Young Bankers.

Speaking after the match, head coach for the Reserves Mcdonald Yobe was a happy man having secured all the points although he said his boys didn’t utilise all the chances they managed to create.

“Today we were abit sloppy in attack that is why the guests utilised our shortfalls and scored a goal that we were not supposed to concede. But I’m happy we won”, said Yobe.

On his team conceding a first goal since the start of the season, Yobe said it is unfortunate that their record has been broken so early into the season.

“We have conceded a first goal today which is disappointing on our side but its part of the game, we move on.” he said.

Silver Strikers Reserve still top Group B with 21 points.
