Silver Strikers Reserve are slowly becoming an unstoppable side in the 2023 Central Region Chipiku Premier Division League after registering massive two back to back wins.
The young bankers demolished Luanar FC 5-0 on Sunday, at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe. They are in Group B alongside Mchinji Strikers, Kamuzu Barracks Youth, Luanar FC, Mkanda Youth, Kamba FC, Ngwanje FC and Santhe Admarc.
The Reserve side, has amassed 14 goals from two games and they are currently leading the table with 6 points.
In their opening match, the lads recorded a 9-0 win against Mchinji Strikers.
A hat trick on Sunday from Adiel Kaduya and a goal each by Felix Seleman as well as Robert White sealed the victory for the team.
Speaking after the win on Sunday, the Reserve side head coach, McDonald Yobe said they played a good side but managed to get a result which is satisfactory and he expects his charges to carry on with the spirit.
“We played a very good side today and all we need is to keep up with this same spirit with the boys and see where we are going to finish on this round,” said Yobe.
At the end of the first round, top four teams from both Group A and B will tussle it out in the second round to get a champion of the division.
On what the two results translate, Yobe said that these two games show that his side is responding well to his instructions.
“I think the feeling right now is good and I should admit that the boys are responding very well but I am still emphasising to them the need to keep the spirit and work hard in areas which we feel we are not doing so well,” he added.
Last season, Silver Strikers Reserve finished second to Extreme FC who were promoted to the top flight TNM Super league
