Coach Mcdonald Yobe says his side, Silver Strikers Reserve, is ready to start the 2023 Chipiku Central Region season this Sunday.
According to Central Region Football Association, Silver Strikers Reserve will kick-start the season with a game at home against Mchinji Strikers at KIA (ADL) Ground.
Last season, Silver Strikers Reserve finished second to Extreme FC who were promoted to the top flight league.
Coach Yobe said this season they have recruited a new team that has been well trained and is very ready for the season.
Being last season’s runners-up, Yobe added that it does not bring any kind of pressure but rather motivates them to do even better.
“We are set for the season as we want to begin from where we stopped last season. The goal has always been to win the league. The team will display the usual Silver Strikers Umodzi-umodzi type of football”, he said.
Yobe however stressed that the only challenge in preparation for Chipiku Premiership games is that it is hard to know how other teams play.
“With the number of games to play in this league and the distance between teams it is hard to follow and learn your opponents, but still we will be set for any team that comes our way.” said Yobe.
Silver Strikers Reserve is in group B alongside Mchinji Strikers, Kamuzu Barracks Youth, Luarnar FC, Mkanda Youth, Kamba FC, Ngwanje FC and Santhe Admarc.
The league was expected to start last weekend but failed to do so due to some teams’ failure to comply with the league’s requirements. Central Region Football Association General Secretary Bernard Chiwiruwiru Harawa says the teams have now responded well to what was required of them.
