Silver Strikers FC and MIKA Greenland on Tuesday renewed their agreement which will see best five players being awarded a piece of land, K100, 000 and a trophy monthly for the next five months starting from April to August this year.
This is a boost from last season’s arrangement where MIKA Greenland awarded three players for their outstanding performances in the monthly award that was launched in August last year. The three were Maxwel Paipi, Tatenda M’balaka and Chikondi Kamanga.
Announcing the agreement in Lilongwe, MIKA Greenland representative Aubrey Chisale said as a company they feel obligated to relaunch the partnership with Silver Strikers as a way of trying to continue motivating and honoring the players.
Chisale said the partnership has proved to be of mutual benefits hence relaunching it.
“We are proud today to get the ball rolling in the new season and add up to what we did last season. This time around we have increased the number of players to receive the player of the month award to five from three as it was in the previous season. We feel this will help Silver Strikers to do well as it will bring competition among the players”, said Chisale.
To put the icing on the cake, Chisale has further announced that Mika Greenland has awarded Silver Strikers football club a one acre piece of land at Airwing in Lilongwe.
In his remarks, Chairperson for the Commercialization Sub-Committee at Silver Strikers Chiyambi Mataya said they are excited that Mika Greenland has returned with something bigger and better.
Mataya said Silver Strikers is always open for business and new partnerships.
“Football these days is not just (just on the pitch) football. We want to make the game more exciting and profitable that is why we want to partner with as many individuals and companies as possible in the corporate world. Silver Strikers as a brand, we want to grow the game of football together with the corporate world that is why this evening we are very excited to relaunch this partnership with Mika Greenland”, Mataya said.
On behalf of the players, the team’s captain Chikondi Kamanga described the relaunch of the partnership as a morale booster.
“I would like on behalf of the players to thank Mika Greenland for returning with this initiative. As someone who won it last season I know how it feels to be recognised as a best player of the month and I do believe this will bring morale and competition on the pitch thereby bringing good results for the team”, he said.
