SILVER CHALK FIRST THREE POINTS

Living by his words, Silver Strikers head coach Peter de Jongh has managed to change the narrative and collected maximum points at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday.

This comes as last season Blue Eagles won both home and away fixtures.

A quick goal by Chimwemwe Idana gave the Central Bankers confidence after a good exchange of passes from Idana and Patrick Macheso at the centre of the field. The two then got the ball to Mark Fodya who dipped the ball in the box for Stanie Davie who took a shot which Brighton Munthali kept away but Idana scored from the rebound.

The goal gave Silver Strikers an advantage to pile pressure to the hosts.

However, minutes later both defender Nickson Mwase and Blue Eagles midfielder Schumacher Kuwali received red cards after a physical altercation.

Blue Eagles got their first chance in the first 30 minutes of the game through Gilbert Chirwa’s clear header which was well taken care of by Charles Thom.

Idana hit the post in a counter attack towards the end of the first half. The last action for Silver Strikers in the first interval was a shot inches over the bar after Duncan Nyoni took advantage of goalkeeper Brighton Munthali’s misplaced pass.

At the start of the second half, Blue Eagles made two changes by taking out Micium Mhone and Tonic Viyuyu and introducing Lanken Mwale and Trouble Banda. The changes paid dividends as the hosts started controlling the game.

Silver strikers made a first substution by taking in Zebron Kalima for Duncan Nyoni and later took out Patrick Macheso for Emmanuel Muyira as well as taking out Stanie Davie for Gift Chunga.

The away side kept the lead until the final whistle.

De Jongh said he is proud of his charges as they have managed to win the game as well as keep a clean sheet.

“I’m glad we have won a match that we controlled very well. My players were on top of the game and this is the tempo that we want to take in the coming games”, said de Jongh.

Blue Eagles tried to make further changes to savage a point in the dying minutes of the game by bringing in Blessings Tembo, Christopher Gatoto and Laurent Banda for Ian Chinyama, Paul Master and Richard Rapson respectively.

The Bankers captain, Chikondi Kamanga was voted man of the match.
