BANKERS CONQUER INGWINA
Silver Strikers showed class and resilience as they claimed maximum points as they met Karonga United in a TNM league fixture on Saturday that was played at the Karonga Stadium.
The Bankers managed to hold Karonga at home in the first half that saw both teams go to recess at 0-0 during the halftime break.
The second half saw Dan Kabwe replace Patrick Macheso with Emmanuel Muyira in the midfield to give a breath of life into the Silver attack which had Chawa Kaonga and Stenie Davie up front with Zebron Kalima and Chinsinsi Maonga in the flanks.
Within 10 minutes in the second half, Silver got a corner kick which Muyira executed very well to find Nixon Mwase who headed past the Karonga goalie to place the bankers ahead with a single goal.
In the fan thronged stadium there was silence as the home side tried to equalize but to no avail as the defensive pair of debutant Hardy N’gandu and Mwase kept Shamama, Dan Sibale and Saka at bay.
In a tantalizing aspect of the hitting the final nail, Zebron found Stenie Davie who laid it into the path of strike partner Kaonga who scored the second game to make it 0-2 in favour of the visitors.
Despite the exploits of Eric Atsigah in the Karonga central defence Silver Strikers emerged winners and kept the first clean sheet of the season.
