CHAWA-vs-BB

Silver Strikers on Saturday beat Nyasa Big Bullets to reach the semi-finals of the Pamtsetse football Bonanza at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Silver was on a revenge mission after losing out to Bullets last week in the Charity Shield in Blantyre.
Bullets through Anthony Mfune tried to getba goal but thanks to the exploits of a solid defensive pair of Nickson Mwase and Maxwell Paipi they did not sniff a chance at Charles Thom’s goal.

Silver however scored in the first half but it was ruled out for offside after Maxwell Phodo laid a low cross to Chawanangwa Kaonga to finish with a slide into an open net of Rabson Chiyenda taking the game to 0-0 at halftime.
However, it was in the second half when Phodo was substituted for Stenie Davie that the Silver attack became more deadly than it was it the first half creating several chances with Emmanue Muyira at the heart of the midfield with Taonga Chimodzi.

It was after Davie beat an offside trap to counter the Bullets defense that he crossed from the right to meet a red hot Kaonga who shot into the net taking the Bankers ahead after 66 minutes.
Later on Bullets would have equalized after Babatunde Adepoju headed but went straight into the palms of Silver’s number 1 shot stopper Thom.

It was at this moment that the game became definitive with Bullets trying all they could to force a draw that never came but Silver were relentless and the zeal paid off dividends in huge numbers.

During the last 10 minutes Bullets were on a counter after committing all players in the Silver half that Davie intercepted a ball and passed it long to Chawa who kept it alive long enough to pass it square to Davie who popped it in into an open net, but this again was ruled out for offside.

The Match ended 0-1 in favor of the Central Bankers to place them into the final on Sunday.
