Silver Strikers Football Club is an elite football club that is based in Lilongwe with an unwavering fan base across Malawi and beyond. Since the current format of the super league, Silvers Strikers football club has won the League 8 times and finished as runners-up of the 2020/21 season. The team has won 15 Cups in total with the most recent being the FDH Cup in 2021.

The Role of the Team Physiotherapist
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the medical team at Silver Strikers Football Club’s senior team. The successful applicant shall be an active member of the team’s medical team and will be at a center of shared decision-making process that collectively decides refusal or return to play following an injury of a player. They shall ensure effective, transparent and prompt communication with the coaching staff and all other stakeholders.
Management of Injuries
1. Provide Musculoskeletal therapy services for the team squad, ensuring effective
management of all team players with regards to their medical needs.
2. Provide treatment and assessment of the team squad players.
3. Ensure that accurate medical records are maintained for the delivery of all player
treatments/rehabilitation/interventions, enabling production of accurate internal and
external injury audit data.
Injury Prevention
1. Devise and deliver effective injury prevention strategies for the team squad.
2. Provide objective musculoskeletal screening/profiling for all team players.
Medical provision at matches (Home and Away)/training sessions/camps
1. To provide match day cover for the team’s games as required.
2. To assist the organization and implementation of the medical provision for all training, camps and trips for the team.
3. To ensure all medical equipment and procedures are available and regularly reviewed and maintained at the training ground in conjunction with other medical team members.
4. Prior to kick-off, monitor all the players’ hydration levels.
5. Shall be directly involved in each player’s individual warm-up, including joint mobilization, sports massage, stretching and taping or strapping as necessary.
6. Shall be part of the pitch-side support team.
7. Treat injuries as required and decide whether it’s appropriate for a player to continue or not.
8. Shall carefully wait for the authorization from the referee to enter the pitch in case of need.
9. Provide pitch-side first aid when required and ensure coordinated management with onsite paramedics.
10. Monitor the players’ hydration levels, providing rub downs and static and dynamic stretches to promote recovery
Pre-signing Medicals/Consultations
1. To assist and organize the pre-signing medical assessments of all incoming team players in conjunction with the Club Doctor.
2. To produce the pre-signing medical report in conjunction with the Team Doctor for all potential and incoming team players.
Management Responsibilities
1. Lead and take a pro-active role in technical meetings to discuss progress of injured players and player availability.
2. Ensure player appointments are made for consultations and appropriate travel arrangements made.
3. Ensure the player’s medical and personal information is correct in conjunction with the team’s physical trainers and relevant administrative staff.

Person Specification – Essential Personal Characteristics
• Undergraduate Degree in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy
• Registered member of the Medical Council of Malawi
• 3-year experience of post-graduate, within an elite team sport setting.
• Ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role
• Flexible approach with the ability to work unsociable hours including evenings and
• weekends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• An understanding of and commitment to fair play and all national and international anti-doping policies as enforced by the Malawi Anti-Doping Association (MADO).
