The Bankers of Lilongwe were held at home by a resilient Mighty Tigers side that did everything to deny the Silver team maximum points in a league encounter on Sunday.
Despite anchoring the league table Tigers did little to win but managed to frustrate the leagues’ top team to share the spoils in their first game in the central region as they face another opponent, tomorrow.
Silver strikers missed a couple of chances through Stenie Davie and Maxwell Phodo in both halves but the pinnacle of the game was in the first half when Phodo missed a penalty to get silver a goal. Dan Kabwe tried to introduce firepower upfront with Maganizo, Bitoni and Kalima but the kau kau boys held on to the full 90 minutes.
The goalless draw is the first for Silver at home, prompting Silver 1st assistant coach McDonald Mtetemera to admit the bankers struggled against the bottom placed team in the league amid several chances they failed to convert.
Silver Strikers will play their last game next Saturday against Bullets at the Silver Stadium in the first round of the league and sit at the top of the league with 32 points from 14 games.
That’s football game… anything can happen
