Silver strikers bagged the first 3 points off the quest of a possible 6 in their last outing of the first round of the TNM super league campaign in the southern part of Malawi, Blantyre to be precise.
Silver strikers had their first half chances thwarted by Red Lions goalie Jacob Kaunda to keep the game level at the end of the first half despite their dominance in the game that was so physical against the military side from Zomba.
The second half saw Stenie Davie and Maxwell Phodo miss several chances by not shooting at goal but rather passing wide in the encounter that saw the Red Lions defense alert at all times relentlessly making sure the bakers did not get a goal despite attempting from either close or long range.
However, with less than 15 minutes to time, Stenie Davie gave Silver Strikers a sigh of relief as he scored the lone goal of the game which saw him being caught off-position by the officiating person due to the alertness of the opposition he was facing.
Coach Daniel Kabwe told this website that one part of the journey was done by winning today’s match and the now the focus is on tomorrow’s game against Ntopwa at the Kamuzu Stadium.
Davie’s goal has now taken his tally to 7 league goals 1 behind striking partner Maxwell Phodo, the man of the match in today’s game against Red Lions was Silvers’ number 7. Duncan Nyoni.
